Letters From Admiral Blackler H.M.S.King Edward VII to his Wife

Admiral Blackler OBE

The naval letters of Admiral Blackler OBE 1889-1925,letters to his wife Margaret and others
Letters of Admiral Blackler OBE ,grandfather of Gillian Hammerton, written from 1889-1925 mainly to his wife Margaret. These display an insight of the Admirality, the inside feuds ,the court marshalls, the quarrels between Admirals and their skullduggeries, some high adventure and mentions often of his contemporarieswho he met including Winston Churchill and George the Fourth who was entertained on the ships.

These letters were such an amazing surprise to me ,such a delight that I want to ask you, publish more and from the beginning. You speak of an earlier time I would wish to see the development of the circumstances and the love affair which became such a bedrock for the children that seemed to be always put first in the heart of their father, yet along side his career and love for his wife.

I feel that i would like to explore the newspaper of the time to place the history and perhaps naval history books.i especially would like to see more photos both public and private. It is such an excellent idea publishing these,is there not a book in this.

It would be good to go beyond the 3 letters your so far have published as this extraordinary grandfather and admiral's letters shows a potentiality that is both enticing and endearing and an amazing window onto the past.

I think that you have a cousin who is the President of the British Geological Society,or was,I believe this gentleman is also his grandfather,so clearly the influence of such an amazing grandfather has permiated through the genetic generations.

This man not only served his family and his country but has left a memorial of lettrs which reach through time.I especially liked the ship in is tranquil water seeming so unaware ofthe tumultuous time ahead.

I really do find these letters most interesting but their has been a while since you have posted any ad yet I am patiently waiting. They are such a tremendous parall to the For Valour Victoria Cross posts a different sort of narrative more exciting really because they are the expressions of the man himself, not the narrator who alsmost facsimilies the past. They are a good foil for each other,a splendid read both of them, really you certainly should publish.
